Advanced Features for Repeating Events - Configurable event start times. Examples are:
- "Call for times" or "E-mail us for times" (text is configurable)
- Every other Monday and Thursday
- The first Tuesday of the month on or after the 2nd
- The first weekday of the month
- Any Friday that falls on the 13th of a month
- The first Saturday OR Sunday of a month, which ever comes first
- Overriding Repeating Events. You can:
- Change a certain instance of a repeating event
- Delete only a certain instance of a repeating event
- The ability to reset a changed instance back to it's original state
How to Create Advanced Repeating EventsFirst things First- You must be in the creation or editing mode on your event.
- Also: Repeating modes are mutually exclusive. Once an event is in advanced repeating mode, saving it in 'simple' mode may drop some of it's repeating rules.
- To get there:
- Cick the Repeating Events Tab
- Cick Advanced just under the Repeating Events Tab.
- With advanced repeating, you have incredible freedom. Use the examples below as a guide:
Example: Every Wednesday the 11th- To start, choose the minumum length of time an event may go without repeating.
For our first example, we'll use every Wed the 11th. The minimum length of time between occurrences of this event is 1 month, so the Monthly tab must be selected.
- From here, start with your least specific rule. Our least specific rule here will be every Wednesday.
Under the Weekdays section, select every Wednesday and click on the Add button.
- Now to be more specific, this event will fall on every Wednesday that is ALSO the 11th of the month.
Under the Month Days section, select 11 and click on the Add button. Now the event will repeat every Wednesday of every month that falls on the 11th of the month.
Example: The first Saturday OR Sunday of the month, which ever comes first- Choose the Month tab because you will have a month between each event.
- Under the Weekdays section select first Saturday and click on the Add button.
- Then select first Sunday and click on the Add button.
As-is, this event will repeat on the first Sunday and first Saturday of every month. Of these occurrences with in this month, we only want the event to occur on the first one that matches our rules.
- Under the Specific Occurrences section, select 1 and click the Add button. This event will now occur on the first Saturday or first Sunday of the month, which ever occurs first in any given month.
Example: Good Friday- In the Easter Yearly tab, you may select recurrences that happen in relation to Easter (based on a lunar cycle). Good Friday occurs on the Friday before Easter or 2 days before Easter Sunday.
Select the Easter Yearly tab
- Enter 2 in the text box.
- That's it! It's that easy.
The first Tuesday of November, on or after the 2nd of the month
- Select the Yearly tab since that's the minimum amount of time between an occurence of this event
- For weekdays, click on the Tuesday checkbox.
- For months, click on November.
- The first Tuesday on or after the second of the month can possibly occur on the 2nd-8th. Select each of these days under Month Days and click on the Add button. Only 7 days will be selected, so Tuesday can only possibly occur once, therefor no additional rules are needed.
